Waco, Texas - The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team was defeated by Baylor University on Saturday afternoon, 15-3, at Baylor Ballpark.
The Bears struck first putting up three in the first on a pair of homers to take a 3-0 lead.
In the second, Baylor hung three more runs on a pair of RBI singles to extend the lead to 6-0.
The Cardinals got on the board in the fourth, scoring two runs on an error by Baylor's shortstop to bring the score to 6-2. Later in the inning, the Bears scored five runs on five RBI singles to extend the lead to 11-2.
In the following inning, Baylor added two runs on a homer and RBI single to push the lead to 13-2.
The Bears added to the lead in the seventh on a solo home run to bring the score to 14-2.
In the eighth, Baylor scored its final run of the game on a wild pitch to bring the score to 15-2.
Sterling Sutcliffe singled in a run in the ninth to bring the final score to 15-3.
The Cardinals close out its series against the Bears tomorrow, April 7 in Waco. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
