PRAIRIE VIEW, TEXAS - The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team lost on a walk-off to Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) 7-6 Tuesday afternoon at Tankersley Field.
The Cardinals got on the board first, scoring two on a two-run single by JD Gregson to give UIW a 2-0 lead after one.
Gregson recorded his third RBI of the day in the third on an RBI single to left to extend the lead to 3-0. Later in the inning, the Panthers scored four runs on two hits to take a 4-3 lead.
Ryder Hernandez singled in a run in the fifth to tie the game at 4-4. The Panthers responded with a two-run home run in the home half of the fifth to retake the lead, 6-4.
UIW scored two runs in the eighth to tie the game at 6-6. Dalton Beck and Rey Mendoza each drove in a run.
The Panthers walked it off on an RBI double up the middle to give PVAMU the 7-6 win.
The Cardinals are back home this weekend to host Nicholls in a three-game series. Friday's first pitch is set for 2:00 p.m.
