BEAUMONT, TEXAS - The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team lost the series finale 8-2 to Lamar University (LU) on Sunday afternoon at Vincent-Beck Stadium.
UIW got on the board first, scoring in the second on an RBI single by Ryder Hernandez. The RBI single gave the Cardinals a 1-0 lead through two.
Lamar scored six runs on five hits in the third to take a commanding 6-1 lead.
LU added an unearned run in the fourth to extend the lead to 7-1.
After four scoreless innings, Lamar added a run on an RBI double to stretch the lead to 8-1 entering the ninth.
UIW scored an unearned run in the ninth, bringing the final score to 8-2.
The Cardinals are on the road Tuesday, April 30, to take on Prairie View A&M. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m.
