BEAUMONT, TEXAS—The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team lost 11-3 to Lamar University (LU) on Friday night at Vincent-Beck Stadium. Luca Boscarino led the Cardinals offensively, driving in two runs and tallying two hits.   Â
Both offenses struggled to get things going through the first three innings.Â
Lamar got on the board in the fourth, scoring one on three hits to take a 1-0 lead after four.Â
Boscarino gave the Cardinals the lead on a two-run homer to put UIW ahead 2-1. Later in the inning, LU responded with two runs to retake the lead 3-2. Â
The Cardinals tied the game at 3-3 in the seventh, scoring on an error. Lamar scored two in the home half of the seventh to take a 5-2 lead.Â
A six-run eighth inning for Lamar put the game out of reach, bringing the final score to 11-3.Â
The Cardinals return for game two on Saturday, April 27. First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m.Â
