BEAUMONT, TEXAS—The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team lost 11-3 to Lamar University (LU) on Friday night at Vincent-Beck Stadium. Luca Boscarino led the Cardinals offensively, driving in two runs and tallying two hits.    

Both offenses struggled to get things going through the first three innings. 

Lamar got on the board in the fourth, scoring one on three hits to take a 1-0 lead after four. 

Boscarino gave the Cardinals the lead on a two-run homer to put UIW ahead 2-1. Later in the inning, LU responded with two runs to retake the lead 3-2.  

The Cardinals tied the game at 3-3 in the seventh, scoring on an error. Lamar scored two in the home half of the seventh to take a 5-2 lead. 

A six-run eighth inning for Lamar put the game out of reach, bringing the final score to 11-3. 

The Cardinals return for game two on Saturday, April 27. First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m.
