LAKE CHARLES, La – Six runs in the fifth inning propelled the University of the Incarnate Word baseball team to a 10-3 victory over McNeese State University on Saturday afternoon to clinch the series heading into Sunday afternoon's game.

The game was scoreless through the first four innings until UIW's bats heated up in the fifth.
Grant Randall doubled down the left field line and
Cameron Caley hit a homer out to left field to put two on the board. A single from
Ryan Scott followed by a home run from
Dalton Beck extended the lead to four.
Daniel Calabrese took first after getting hit,
Tony DeJesus brought Calabrese home on a double and
JD Gregson immediately doubled down the right field line as the Cardinals found themselves up, 6-0.

A double from Beck followed by a single from Calabrese brought three Cardinals home for a 9-0 UIW lead in the top of the sixth. McNeese got on the board in the bottom of the innings, bringing the score to 9-2.

Grant Randall smashed UIW's third home run of the night out to left field in the seventh to hand the Cardinals the 10-2 edge over the Cowboys.

The Cowboys added one run in the ninth to close out the game.

UIW and McNeese close out the series on Sunday at 1 p.m.
