MONROE, La. – The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team fell 7-1 in the rubber match on Sunday evening to lose the series, 2-1, at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
The Warhawks faced five UIW pitchers, with
Dave Johnson starting the mound and
Adam Byrd taking the loss for the Cardinals.
Ryan Scott produced three of UIW's seven hits on the game.
Rob Liddington Jr. doubled to left field to get things going for the Cardinals, before Scott singled to center field to bring Liddington across the plate for an early 1-0 UIW lead in the top of the first.
ULM tied the game up in the third and took the lead in the seventh with four more runs as the Cardinals looked to their bullpen (5-1).
The Warhawks added another two to the board in the eighth off a homer to left field that clinched the 7-1 victory to take the series.
