New Orleans, LA - The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team defeated the University of New Orleans (UNO) on Friday evening, 2-0. Starter Josh Salinas was unhittable all night as he went the distance to get the win.
Tonight was all about Salinas as he struck out ten batters on his way to a complete game shutout. Salinas sat down the last nine batters in order to finish off the Privateers. The Cardinals' starter scattered three hits and two walks to move to 3-0 on the season.
At the plate, UIW got its scoring done early. Dalton Beck doubled in a run to put the Cardinals on the board in the first. Later in the inning, Sterling Sutcliffe singled in a run to extend the lead to 2-0. That was all Salinas needed to even the series up.
The Cardinals and Privateers face off again on Saturday, March 30 to close out the series. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m.
