SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team dropped game two, losing to Texas A&M Corpus Christi (TAMCC), 11-5, on Saturday afternoon at Sullivan Field, sponsored by H-E-B.
The Cardinals struck first on a Dalton Beck two-run homer to give the Cardinals a 2-0 lead after one.
The Islanders responded with nine unanswered runs to take a 9-2 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth. Beck doubled in a run in the fifth, bringing the score to 9-3.
Daniel Calabrese drove in a run on a sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 9-4 through six.
The Islanders drove in two runs in the seventh on a two-run homer to extend the lead to 11-4.
Beck drove in his fourth run on a sacrifice fly in the seventh to make the final score 11-5.
The Cardinals and Islanders face off on Sunday, March 23 for the series. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
