LAKE CHARLES, La – The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team took on the McNeese Cowboys Saturday night and fell by a final score of 71-87.
Five Cardinals scored in double-figures in the game. They were led by T.J. Ford Jr. who had a career high with 14 points.
Sky Wicks and
Shon Robinson both had 13 points,
Dylan Hayman continued his double-digit scoring streak with 12, and
Davante Dennis added 10.
The game started very slow for both teams. The Cardinals and the Cowboys started the game a combined one-of-fourteen from the field. McNeese was able to pick up the pace, but UIW only converted on eight field goals in the first half and went into the break down 21-44.
The Cardinals had a much better second half. Ford scored all 14 of his points and seven out of the eight cardinals who touched the floor put the ball in the basket. The Cardinals outscored the Cowboys 50-43 in the last 20 minutes of the game. However, it was too little too late and UIW lost 71-87.
