SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team opens its season against Villanova on Feb. 16-18 at Sullivan Field, sponsored by H-E-B. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, then 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Rey Mendoza was named to the 2024 Southland Conference Baseball Preseason All-Conference first team. Cameron Crotte, Grant Randall, and Isaiah Zavala were all named to the Preseason All-Conference second team.

The Cardinals return key players in Mendoza, Crotte, and Randall while Zavala, Ryan Schlotzhauer, and Braden Berry return to the mound this season.

Head coach Ryan Shotzberger added 21 new faces to the team in one freshman and 20 transfer student-athletes.
