HOUSTON – The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team lost its final game of a four-game road trip against the HCU Huskies, 83-86.
Josiah Hammons scored 22 points and had another great game from the stripe, going a perfect six-for-six, and
Dylan Hayman continued to show his offensive improvement scoring 16 points.
The Cardinals fell behind early, 23-14, after only getting two free throw attempts through the first 10 minutes compared to 10 for HCU. UIW was able to battle back, cutting into the Husky lead several times behind key offensive rebounds, scoring double the points off put back buckets, 12-6, and only being down four, 45-41, at halftime.
Midway through the second half the Cardinals found themselves down, 58-73. UIW went on to knock down four 3-pointers on a 15-2 run cutting the deficit to two points with 3:07 left in the game.
In the end the Huskies were able to stave off the Cardinal comeback and take the game by a final score of 83-86.
