SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team defeated Our Lady of the Lake 93-69 on Sunday afternoon.
Dylan Hayman scored a career high 23 points and
Davion Bailey wasn't far behind scoring 22.
Jalin Anderson recorded another double-double with 13 assists and 12 points. His 13 assists in a single game is the most in UIW Division I history.
Harrison Reede was the other Cardinal to score in double figures, knocking down four 3-pointers for 12 points off the bench.
The Cardinals could not miss in the first few minutes of the game. UIW started a perfect 10-for--10 from the field and held a 24-7 lead in just the first five and a half minutes of the game.
Dylan Hayman was leading the way knocking down his first six shots for a team leading 13 points.
After the flurry of shots in the first five minutes from the Cardinals things evened out. The Saints were able to keep pace with UIW through the remainder of the first half with a score of 23-24.
Even though the scoring slowed for UIW, the Cardinals had their highest scoring first half of the season and went into the locker room with a 48-30 lead.
Coming out of the break
Jalin Anderson took over the scoring, producing the first seven points of the second half for the Cardinals. Anderson went on to assist on four of the next six buckets for UIW staving off the mid game run from OLLU.
The final 10 minutes of the game UIW was able to not only keep their lead but extend it to the largest of the game at 31 behind some 3-pointers by Bailey and Reede. At the end of the 40 minutes the Cardinals walked away with a 93-69 win.
