Cardinals Earn Convincing Win Over Schreiner

SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team defeated the Schreiner Mountaineers 101-57 in their final game before Christmas break on Thursday night.

Four Cardinals scored more than 10 points tonight. Davion Bailey led the way with 33 points. Dylan Hayman scored 13 and both Jalin Anderson and Jordan Pyke added 12. TJ Ford Jr. created some big plays in his nearly 20 minutes of play making seven assists. Jayden Williams had 10 rebounds, five on offense and five on defense.

The Cardinals struggled to find the bottom of the basket early and found themselves tied at eight a piece shortly after the first media timeout.

Davion Bailey completely took over, setting the tone for UIW scoring 22 points in the first half. As Bailey caught fire the Mountaineer's cooled off, missing five straight 3-pointers and finishing the half shooting 27 percent from the field. Despite the shaky start UIW scored its most first-half points of the season and went into the break with a comfortable 50-23 lead.

In the second half 13 different Cardinals checked into the game and 10 of them scored, helping UIW beating their first half total for points with 51. The Cardinals dominated the glass only allowing nine rebounds in the half while grabbing 24 of their own. After 40 solid minutes the Cardinals walked away with a convincing 101-57 win.
