SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team swept New Orleans, 25-18, 25-17, 25-13 at the McDermott Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Cardinals (12-7, 5-4) extended its win streak to three games, including wins over Nicholls and McNeese.
Finley Evans led all players in kills with eight on the afternoon. Evans also led the Cardinals in digs with 14.
Teyhlor Thomas led both teams in blocks recording four in the win.
Senior setter, Anuhea Faitau led the team in assists with 16.
Set 1: UIW 25 (1), UNO 18 (0)
UIW trailed early, but never relented the lead once they got it back. The Cardinals led by as many as six before closing out the set.
Set 2: UIW 25 (2), UNO 17 (0)
After falling behind early 6-4, the Cardinals stormed back, leading by as much as seven to take set two.
Set 3: UIW 25 (3), UNO 13 (0)
The Cardinals fell into an early 2-0 hole before quickly turning things around and ending set three with no trouble.
UIW has two home matches this week. The Cardinals will host Lamar on Halloween night at 6 pm. On Saturday the team will host the Islanders at 12 p.m.
