THIBODAUX, La. – The University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team swept Nicholls, 25-18, 25-14, 25-20 at the David R. Stopher Gymnasium on Thursday.     

The Cardinals (10-7, 3-4) stay in Louisiana for a Saturday afternoon matchup against the McNeese Cowgirls.      

Kyla Malone led all Cardinals in kills with 14 on the night. 

Kade Thomas, the Cardinals' leader in blocks, recorded four blocks, three kills, and a .600 hitting percentage.   

Senior setter, Anuhea Faitau led UIW in assists with 19. Finley Evans led the team in digs with 12 and led all players in aces with 4.  

Set 1: UIW 25 (1), NICH 18 (0)    

The Cardinals controlled set one, finishing with 14 kills in the set to seal the win. Malone led all players with five kills in the set. 

Set 2: UIW 25 (2), NICH 14 (0)   

UIW used an early 8-0 to pull away from the Colonels in set two. Allison and Malone led all players with five kills in the set.  

Set 3: UIW 25 (3), NICH 20 (0)   

After falling behind by as much as five, the Cardinals used another 8-0 run to come from behind and seal the sweep.  

UIW will be on the road on Saturday as they visit McNeese.
