COMMERCE, TX – The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team lost to the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions, 71-66, on Wednesday night.
Dylan Hayman scored a career high 18 points, along with three rebounds and an assist in the losing effort.
The Lions jumped out to the largest lead of the game of six, after back-to-back 3-pointers to start the game. The Cardinals responded by scoring nine straight points. From there the game was a battle.

Elijah Davis led the way for the Cardinals offensively in the first half, shooting a combined 71 percent from the field. Davis added four key assists which lead to 11 points. The Cardinals went into the break trailing by one, 33-34.
With just under eight minutes remaining in the second half,
Dylan Hayman scored eight straight points for UIW. During this same four-minute stretch the Cardinals were able to keep the Lions from scoring a single field goal. The run was capped off by a tough layup by Davis, giving UIW the 61-60 lead.
The Cardinals were unable to keep pace with the Lions in the final minutes of the game and fell by a final score of, 71-66.
