SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team dropped two one score conference games this past week. The Cardinals lost 1-0 to Northwestern State University on Friday evening, and 1-0 to Southeastern Louisiana University on Monday afternoon. 

Game 1: UIW 0, NWSU 1 

The Lady Demons scored the game's lone goal in the 13th minute to take a 1-0 lead. 

NWSU controlled most of the first half, finishing with seven shots in the first half. 

The Cardinals turned up the pressure in the second half finishing with 11 shots (three on goal) with nine of the teams 11 shots coming in the second half.  

Goalkeeper Erica Defferding allowed one goal and finished with two saves in the loss. 

Payton Adams received a red card in the 33rd minute disqualifying her for the rest of the match and keeping her sidelined for the Cardinals matchup against SLU. Sierra Wannamaker picked up her first yellow card of the season in the 49th minute. 

Game 2: UIW 0, SLU 1 

The game lasted just under 24 hours, but the Lions of Southeastern won with a goal late in the second half. 

The Lions scored in the 78th minute, going the length of the pitch to give themselves a 1-0 lead. 

The Cardinals could not take advantage of possessions in the box late in the game to keep them off the board. 

Goalkeeper Erica Defferding allowed one goal and recorded four saves in the loss.
