SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team picked up another win to start off the year, defeating UTRGV 2-0, on Thursday evening, at Gayle and Tom Benson Stadium. The 3-0 start gives the Cardinals their best start since 2013.
Defender Bailey Moyer scored in the tenth minute from the corner spot to give UIW the early 1-0 lead.
Midfielder Sinead Duffy scored a miraculous goal from 84 feet out in the 31st minute to extend the Cardinals lead to 2-0. Duffy was assisted by midfielder Diana HIlhorst
The Cardinals would carry their 2-0 lead into halftime and keep it that way until the final whistle.
Goalkeeper Makenzie Hall finished off her third clean sheet of the season totaling two saves while playing the entire 90 minutes.
