SAN ANTONIO – The No. 2 University of the Incarnate Word baseball team is set to travel to Lake Charles, Louisiana to open play in the 2023 Southland Conference Baseball Tournament on Wednesday at 11 a.m. against Northwestern State (No.5).

The Cardinals locked in the No. 2 seed in this year's SLC Tournament after finishing 14-10 in conference play, their best conference-winning percentage since 2019 and the highest seed since becoming Division I.

The Cardinals will take on No. 5 Northwestern State Wednesday at 11 a.m., a team the Cardinals lost two of three from earlier this season and one of only two SLC series losses.

The rest of the tournament consists of No. 6 McNeese against No. 7 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in a single-elimination play-in game, No. 3 Lamar vs. No. 4 New Orleans, and No. 1 Nicholls against the winner of the play-in game.
