Box Score SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team dropped its series finale to McNeese State, 9-2 to give the Cardinals a 2-1 series win at Sullivan Field, sponsored by H-E-B.
Wilson Ehrhardt, Alec Carr, and Warren Laster each finished with two hits. Carr drove in the Cardinals lone RBI on a solo home run.
McNeese took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single and RBI double.
On a double steal in the third, the Cowboys extended their lead to 3-0. Later in the inning, the Cardinals got on the board on a throwing error to bring the score to 3-1.
After two scoreless innings, the Cowboys took control of the game, going up 8-1 in the fifth. Two home runs and an RBI single helped the Cowboys extend their lead.
After two scoreless innings, Carr belted a solo home run to bring the score to 8-2.
McNeese extended its lead in the top of the eighth on a sacrifice fly to make the score 9-2.
Neither team would score in the ninth to give McNeese the 9-2 win.
