THE COLONY, Texas – The University of the Incarnate Word artistic swimming team placed second at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) artistic swimming championships on March 4-5, 2023.
The meet began on Saturday with the technical competitions where the Cardinals had several student-athletes place in the top three including
Hannah Ray who won technical competition B.
UIW followed this up with the solo and trio performances.
Nour Shamala's solo scored 81.125 points which was second overall.
Elizabeth Battista,
Camryn Hooey and Abbygayle Remmers also finished second in the trio finals with their routine scoring 82.075 points, less than one point out of first place.
In the final day of the competition, the Cardinals continued to perform well earning another top finish as Battista and Hooey placed third in the duet competition. In the final event of the meet both of the UIW team routines placed in the top three.
The Cardinals finished with a total of 89 points total team points taking second in the meet. UIW will be back in the water for U.S. Collegiate Championships in Westmont Illinois on March 22.
