SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team dropped a close one to Lamar University, losing 1-0, on Friday, October 13.  
Lamar took an early 1-0 lead on a goal in the ninth minute of the first half. 
In the 25th minute Lamar set up for a penalty shot to extend their lead, but goalkeeper Erica Defferding was able to pick up the save and keep the game at 1-0. 
Defferding had a busy night, totaling 14 saves while seeing 20 shots and conceding just one goal. 
 The UIW offense was only able to muster two shots on goal in the loss. 
UIW had five players play the entire 90 minutes of the contest.
