LAKE CHARLES, La. – The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team heads to the 2022 Southland Conference Baseball Tournament on Thursday, May 19. The Cardinals face top-seeded McNeese State University in the opening round of the tournament. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. CT at Joe Miller Ballpark.
FOLLOW THE GAME
The number one seed McNeese and number two seed Southeastern claimed host sites for the tournament. The Cardinals join McNeese, Nicholls and Northwestern State in Lake Charles, Louisiana, while New Orleans, Southeastern Louisiana, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Houston Baptist play in Hammond, Louisiana. The tournament is double-elimination.

- UIW is coming off a series (2-1) win over TAMUCC. This win lifted UIW Athletics to a first-place finish in the Southland Conference Commissioner's Cup.
- Roberto Gonzalez ended the regular season on a 17-game hit streak.
- The Cardinals placed six student-athletes on the Southland All-Conference Teams. Grant Smith (First), Alec Carr (First), Robert Gonzalez (Second), Michael Garza (Third), Wilson Ehrhardt (Third) and Ridge Rogers (All-Defensive) earned spots.

- The Cardinals fell to the Cowboys, 3-0, earlier in the season.
- McNeese leads the series history, 17-4.
SCOUTING THE COWBOYS
- McNeese is on a four-game win streak, sweeping HBU in the final series to claim the number one seed and the SLC regular season title.
- The Cowboys picked up 17 SLC postseason awards.
- Payton Haden was named Player of the Year; Grant Rogers was selected as Pitcher of the Year and Cameron Foster was named Relief Pitcher of the Year.
