SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team fell to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMUCC), 6-2, in the series finale on Saturday afternoon at Sullivan Field, sponsored by H-E-B. UIW clinched the series 2-1. 

Senior Ridge Rogers started his 200th career game to break the program record in games started as well as games played (211). Third baseman Roberto Gonzalez ended regular-season play with a seventeen-game hit streak.

Carson Rollins stepped up to the mound in the third inning to finish out the game, allowing just one run and three hits while striking out eight batters. 

An Islander home run put TAMUCC on top, 1-0, in the second frame. An RBI double followed by a three-RBI homer then gave the Islanders a 5-0 advantage in the third inning.

Grant Smith's double in the bottom of the sixth toed the left field line to plate Alec Carr (5-1).

The Islanders notched another home run in the seventh, but Gonzalez hit a homer of his own in the ninth. TAMUCC went on to win game three, 6-2. 

UP NEXT
The Cardinals head to the Southland Conference Tournament beginning Thursday, May 19. Location and time is to be determined.
