SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team is away this week, beginning with Baylor at 6:30 p.m. CT on Tuesday, April 26. The Cardinals then travel to Houston Baptist University (HBU) for a three-game series beginning at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 28, at Husky Field.
QUICK HITS
- The Cardinals are 16-20 overall and 6-9 in the Southland Conference (SLC).
- The UIW pitching staff is number one in the SLC for batters struck out looking with 87 and second for batters struck out with 325. Michael Garza leads the charge with 59 strikeouts (No. 1) and 16 batters struck out looking (No. 2).
- Grant Smith has moved up to second in doubles with 12.

- Baylor is 20-20 overall and 4-11 in the Big 12. The Bears are coming off a 3-0 series loss against Texas.
- Tre Richardson and Jack Pineda have 48 hits each to lead the team.
- Kyle Nevin has 38 RBIs on the season.

- UIW last saw the Huskies on May 9, 2020, where the Cardinals won, 3-2.
- HBU leads the series history, 11-8.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
- HBU currently sits at No. 5 in the SLC with an 8-7 conference record.
- Brennen Bales leads the team with a .304 batting average off 34 hits, nine double and 18 RBIs.
- The Huskies are coming off a 10-1 series finale win over Northwestern State University.
