SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team fell to Southeastern Louisiana University (SLU) in game two, 10-5, at Sullivan Field, sponsored by H-E-B.
The Lions started off the game with a two RBI home run, but
Alec Carr belted a homer out of left field to bring the Cardinals within one (2-1) in the bottom of the second.
Roberto Gonzalez then hit just out of the third baseman's reach to drive in
Taylor Darden in the third frame (2-2).
The Lions smacked a two-RBI triple in the fifth to take a 4-2 lead.
An RBI single from
Hernan Yanez cut SLU's edge to 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth, then
Ridge Rogers brought Yanez home to tie the game up, 4-4.
SLU bunted to sneak in a run in the seventh inning before tacking on five more runs to take a 10-4 advantage.
Trey Triolo scored off a wild pitch in the ninth, but SLU took game two, 10-5.

UIW and SLU will face off in a rubber match on Sunday, April 3, at 1 p.m. CT at Sullivan Field, sponsored by H-E-B.
