SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team fell to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMUCC), 77-68, on Saturday afternoon at the McDermott Center.
 
Drew Lutz led the Cardinals on the offensive end with a season-best, 22-point performance. Robert "RJ" Glasper (16) and Benjamin Griscti (14) also registered a double-digit performance for UIW.  
 
Lutz led the Cardinals in the first half with 10 points. The close, eight-point half consisted of six lead changes before the Islanders took the 39-31 edge heading into the halftime break. The Cardinals started off with back-to-back threes from Lutz and Glasper to keep the game close. Griscti knocked down three from beyond the arch to keep the Cardinals in the game.  
 
Glasper started the second half with back-to-back treys to begin to chip away at the Islanders' lead. His 11 points in the second half led the Cardinal offense. Lutz added 12 more to his tally to help UIW pull away from the Islanders. The Cardinals went on a 13-4 scoring run to take the lead, 46-43. UIW led by as many as four points in the second half before the Islanders took back the lead, 65-64. TAMUCC went on an 8-0 scoring run to extend its advantage to five in the final three minutes of the game. The Cardinals kept battling, but the Islander's offense took flight to secure the 77-68 victory.
