SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team took down the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats, 77-65, Friday night in the last home game of 2022 at the McDermott Center.
The Cardinals had an outstanding night on the offensive side of the ball. Two student-athletes recorded a season-high in
Brandon Swaby with 16 points and
Niki Krause picked up 14.
Jonathan Cisse added 16 points of his own.
With nine minutes left in the half the Wildcats went on a 14-5 run, which was spurred on by Zion Harmon who scored 17 points in the half. Bethune-Cookman was able to hold their lead into halftime, going into the break, up 34-29.
In the second half things turned around for UIW. The Cardinals began the half on a 9-0 run retaking the lead, 38-34. Later in the half, UIW knocked down three consecutive 3-pointers which led the way for a 20-5 run helping the Cardinals build their largest lead of the game at 65-50. UIW and B-CU traded baskets for the rest of the game and the Cardinals walked away with a 77-65 win.
Men's basketball will play again this Wednesday in Miami against Florida International.
