KATY, Texas – The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball teams travels to Katy, Texas, to compete in three games at the inaugural Southland Conference (SLC) Tip-Off Event from Jan. 6-8. The Cardinals open against Nicholls on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. CT.
 
The event features eight men's teams playing a bracketed pre-conference tournament at the Leonard E. Merrell Center, site of the Southland Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament since 2008. All games will be televised on ESPN+.
 
THE LAST TIME THEY MET

• The Cardinals and Colonels last met on Jan. 2, 2020.
• The series is tied 5-5.

 
UIW

• The Cardinals are coming off a 90-45 win over Dallas Christian College, improving their overall record to 3-11.
• UIW has four student-athletes averaging double figures. RJ Glasper leads the team with 14 points per game. Josh Morgan (12), Johnny Hughes III (11) and Drew Lutz (11) continue to contribute to the Cardinals' offense.
• Lutz leads the team in steals with 21 on the season and in assists with 61. Hughes II is the leading rebounder with six per contest.

 
NICHOLLS

• The Colonels are on a two-game losing streak with losses to Purdue and Oregon State, bringing their record to 8-6.
• Ty Gordon leads Nicholls in scoring, averaging 21 points per game. Devante Carter adds 11 points per contest.
• Emmanuel Little and Manny Littles lead the Colonels in rebounds with six per game.
