HAMMOND, La. – The University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team fell to Southeastern Louisiana University (SLU), 76-49, on Saturday afternoon at the University Center.
With a season-best 12 points, Hannah Wheeler led the Cardinal offense.
Jaaucklyn Moore followed with another double-digit performance, registering 10 points against SLU.
The Cardinals and SLU battled it out through the entire first half, with nine lead changes and four tied scores. Moore led the offense, while Destiny Terrel helped with four rebounds to keep UIW in the game. The Lady Lions hit a three as time expired to keep the 38-27 advantage heading into the halftime break.
The Lady Lions came out of the break with a high-intensity offense, quickly extending their lead. Wheeler continued to push the offense; however, it was not enough as SLU went on to take the victory, 76-49.
