NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team fell to SFA in eight innings to close out the four-game set. The Lumberjacks' Skylar Black's three-run home run capped the 11-1 final. 

Noah Brewer and Chance Medina each went 2-for-3 for the Cardinals' four hits on Saturday afternoon at Jaycee's Field.  

SFA scored two in the bottom of the first inning for another early game lead. In the second inning, Brewer drew a one-out walk but was gunned down on a Grant Smith fielder's choice. Medina and Trent Koerner had back-to-back walks to load the bases. Landon Etzel was credited with an RBI being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to send in Smith from third to make it a 2-1 game. Just as the Cardinals looked for the two-out rally, Jordan McFarland grounded out as the scoring threat was halted by SFA. 

After the Lumberjacks scratched a run across in the bottom of the third inning and two more in the fifth. The Cardinals (11, 8-8 SLC) tried to climb back into the game in the top of the sixth inning as Brewer singled to left field and Medina doubled to left to have runners on second and third with one out before Lackner struck out and Etzel hit one back to the pitcher to end the inning.  

SFA (11-13, 9-7 SLC) closed out the game with six runs on two doubles, a walk, and a home run in the bottom of the eighth for the 11-1 win.

The Cardinals return to Sullivan Field to play Prairie View A&M in non-conference action on Tuesday, April 6, at 6:30 p.m. (CT).
