- UIW placed three student-athletes on the Southland Conference Preseason All-Conference teams. Ryan Flores earned first team honors for the second year in a row, while Lee Thomas and Grant Smith were selected for the second team.Â
- The Cardinals are third in the Southland Conference producing an average of 7.3 runs per game.
- Wilson Ehrhardt and Flores are both batting above .300. Ehrhardt leads the Cardinals with a .353 average with 12 hits, three doubles, two homeruns and a triple, scored 10 times and driving in nine RBIs. Flores is hitting .313 with 10 hits, three doubles two homeruns, seven runs scored and a team-high 14 RBIs.
- UIW's 11.2 strikeouts per nine innings is the 31st-best mark in the country.
- Michael McElmeel leads the Cardinals on the mound with a 1.13 ERA in eight innings of work., giving up just three hits one earned run and throwing nine strikeouts.
- Isaiah Zavala pitched a complete game his last time out and is 2-0 in four appearances. Zavala has thrown 12 strikeouts while giving up just two earned runs and seven hits in 11 1/3 innings.
- Michael Garza leads the black and red with 21 strikeouts after fanning 10 through seven innings against Northwestern State last Saturday.

SCOUTING THE LIONS
- SLU is 11-5 on the season after posting back-to-back series sweeps of Troy and Sam Houston and a 10-7 loss to No. 10 LSU on Tuesday.
- The Lions enter the four-game series with the league's best batting average (.313), on-base percentage (.434), hits (165), runs (142), and stolen bases (31).
- Jacob Burke leads the Lions and third in the league with a .382 batting average. Compiling 21 hits, six doubles, three homeruns, a triple and accounting for 21 runs scored and 19 RBIs. Evan Keller (.354), Christian Garcia (.352), Preston Faulkner (.350) and Gaby Cruz (.310) are all hitting above the .300 mark.
- Will Warren leads the Lions' pitching rotation with a 3-0 record in four starts. Warren boasts a .69 ERA with 24 strikeouts and two earned runs in 26 innings of work.
