SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team hosted Nicholls on Saturday, October 30. The Cardinals celebrated senior day and won 3-1 over the Colonels.

Bethany Clapp,
Natalie Martin,
Pilar Gonzaba and
Taylor Henderson played their last game at the McDermott Center.

"Earning a win for these five seniors on senior day was very special," head coach
Samantha Dabbs Thomas said. "All five of them played great and I am so proud of them."

The Cardinals took the first two sets to start the match before Nicholls rallied to win the third set. UIW went on a 5-0 run in the fourth set to secure the win.

Jackson led the Cardinal offense with 12 kills. Clapp followed behind with 10 and
Annamarie Alvarez added nine. The Cardinals tallied eight aces on the day from Clapp (3), Martin (2), Henderson (1)Â Gonzaba (1) and
Allison Palmi (1).
Nailah Landon defended the net with eight blocks and Martin finished with 23 assists. Clapp led the team in digs followed by
Audrey Patton with 15 and Palmi with seven.

The Cardinals have three games left in regular season play. "We need to continue to get better and come November we need to be playing our best volleyball," Dabbs Thomas said.

UP NEXT
The Cardinals head to Louisiana for a pair of road matches against Northwestern State and Southeastern Louisiana before heading to Corpus Christi for their final regular season match.
