SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team comes back to Sullivan Field, sponsored by H-E-B, after sweeping Oral Roberts in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Feb. 27-March 1. The Cardinals play a non-conference game against Stephen F. Austin on Tuesday at home, then head to Corpus Christi, Texas, to play TAMU-CC in the first conference series of the season.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE LAST WEEK
- UIW fell, 4-0, to #18 Texas A&M on Wednesday. The Cardinals bounced back and completed a series sweep over Oral Roberts in which they outscored the Golden Eagles 31-14 in the three-game series.
- Lee Thomas had a monster week as hit .571 in the four games while driving in four runs and scoring five himself. He added two doubles and walked six times to have a .714 OBP and a .714 SLG%.
- Ryan Flores added seven more RBI in the four games and now has a team-leading 14.
- Isaiah Zavala pitched six scoreless innings on Saturday, only allowing four hits while striking out three in the 8-4, 10-inning victory over ORU.
HISTORY VS SFA
- SFA has a 7-6 record over UIW in the all-time series.
- The Cardinals beat the Lumberjacks in the last meeting by a score of 7-3 in Nacogdoches on March 31, 2018.
SCOUTING THE LUMBERJACKS
- Stephen F. Austin is 3-9 in the early 2020 campaign and is currently on a six-game losing streak.
- The Lumberjacks are led by senior catcher Skylar Black, who is batting .294 with a team-best three home runs and 12 RBI.
- On the mound, junior Joe Todd has three quality starts in his first three of the season, coming away with a record of 1-1. He has posted a 3.00 ERA in 18 innings of work while striking out 16 and only walking two.
HOT STREAKS
- Lee Thomas is on a 10-game hitting streak and a 16-game reached-base streak dating back to the 2019 season.
- Grant Smith has reached base in all 10 games as a Cardinal.
- Ryan Flores and Kyle Bergeron are both on nine-game reached-base streaks.
CARDINALS FLYING NATIONWIDE
- Aaron Celestino is tied for second in the nation with three wins so far this season.
- Lee Thomas is sixth in the country with a ridiculous .646 OBP and sits in 10th with a .500 batting average.
- Ryan Flores already has four sacrifice flies, which puts him tied for first in the country.
- As a team, the Cardinals are 16th in Division I with a .423 OBP and sit at 23rd with 65 walks.
- UIW's 8.4 runs per game is also good for top-10 in the NCAA.
