SAN ANTONIO -- The University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team fought but ultimately fell, 3-0, to North Texas in their Sunday match.

• Goalkeeper Cailey Croson put in work in goal to amass 10 saves on the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Cardinals relied heavily on their defensive line and midfielders to clear North Texas advances through the match. Both teams brought highly aggressive and passionate play to the pitch, which was the spark to initiate the Cardinal's defensive strategy. UIW showed their endurance to fight back against the Mean Green to mirror their quick feet and ball handling.

Cailey Croson showed out in the net, protecting the ball to tally up 10 major saves.

UNT ultimately netted two in the first half, off unlucky connections and missteps to make the score 2-0. Despite UIW's attempt to initiate scoring plays off of corner kicks throughout the second half, North Texas' Berklee Peters scored her second of the game, and the last goal of the game, in the 68th minute to make the final score 3-0.

UP NEXT

The Cardinals travel to California for a two-game stint, facing California Baptist on Sept. 13 at 5 p.m. (CT), and then playing CSU Bakersfield on Sept. 15 at 2 p.m. (CT).
