NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team fell in three sets to Stephen F. Austin on Saturday afternoon.
NOTABLES
- Bethany Clapp led UIW with 12 kills, 22 digs and one service ace.
- Cameron Taylor recorded three service aces.
- Presley Baylock had 19 assists for the team.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SETS 1 AND 2 (25-17 and 25-18) | The Cardinals got on the board first with a kill from
Carissa McGarity. The teams went point-for-point until the Ladyjacks went on a 9-1 scoring run. SFA kept the lead to win the first set 25-17. In the second set, SFA took the lead from the first point and did not let down, taking the second set as well.
SET 3 (25-22) | UIW came out strong in the final set. With multiple kills from both
Julia Monday and Clapp, the Cardinals led for the first 10 points. The Ladyjacks caught up to tie the game at 10-10 and went on to lead for the remainder of the set and win the match.
UP NEXT
The Cardinals return to the McDermott Center for a two-game homestand against Central Arkansas (Oct. 3 at 6 p.m.) and Northwestern State (Oct. 5 at 12 p.m.).
