HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 (25-22) | UIW took an early, 6-0 advantage and never looked back, leading throughout the set. Central Arkansas pulled within one at 23-22, but Clapp came in clutch with a kill to give UIW a 24-22 lead. An attack error on UCA clinched the 25-22 set win for UIW.
Â
SET 2 (25-21) | The Cardinals again took an early lead, but Central Arkansas refused to go quietly, drawing even six times. Finally, with the set tied at 17-17, UIW took advantage of a UCA error to grab its final lead of the game, which they rode to a 25-21 set win.
Â
SETS 3 AND 4 (21-25 AND 13-25) | The Sugar Bears took an early lead and maintained it for the majority of the third set. The Cardinals knotted the score at 12-12, but UCA pushed its advantage out again, eventually securing a 25-21 win. UCA carried that momentum into the fourth set, jumping ahead quickly and never trailing on its way to a 25-13 set win to force a fifth set.
Â
SET 5 (13-15) | The fifth set was back-and-forth and saw six ties and two lead changes. Ultimately, with the score even at 12-12, the Sugar Bears pulled ahead and secured the 3-2 match victory.
