SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word football team celebrates its Taco Cabana Hispanic Heritage game when the Cardinals host conference foe Abilene Christian at Benson Stadium on Saturday at 6 p.m. (CT).
TACO CABANA HISPANIC HERITAGE GAME DAY PROMOTIONS
- MINI CARDINAL HEAD PIÑATAS - The first 500 fans receive a mini cardinal head piñata. The giveaway will take place in the UIW Fan Zone.
- HISPANIC HERITAGE GAME - The third-quarter Taco Cabana dance cam will feature Taco Cabana prize packs for the best dancers, and all in-game music will be Tejano/Spanish-themed. Additionally, Social House will be selling margaritas.
- UIW FAN ZONE - The Cardinals will have a family-friendly Fan Zone at all home games this season, where there will be a bounce house, an obstacle course, and so much more. This week, the fan zone will feature the St. Anthony's High School mariachi band. The Fan Zone is located in the parking lot between the football field and the tennis courts.

- In the third quarter against Sam Houston State, Gerald Bowie III snatched an interception and returned it 11 yards. Tre Richardson then forced and recovered a fumble in the fourth quarter.
- With these turnovers, the Cardinals have now forced a turnover in 15 consecutive games dating back to the 2017 season.
- Kam Williams leads UIW's receiving corps with 289 yards and three touchdowns. All three of his touchdowns came during the Texas Southern contest, tying the record for individual receiving TDs in a single game.
- In just his 11th game as a Cardinal, Jon Copeland surpassed 3,000 passing yards. Through 14 contests in his career, he has thrown for 3,766 yards.
- This season, Copeland leads the Cardinals with 807 total offensive yards. He has racked up 782 passing yards and averages 260.7 passing yards per game.
- Through three games this season, Ameer King has rushed for 217 yards.
SCOUTING ABILENE CHRISTIAN
- The Wildcat defense leads the league in sacks (15 in four games), averaging 3.75 sacks per game.
- The defense also has the best turnover margin in the league at +5 with four fumbles recovered and four interceptions in four games.
- Senior running back Tracy James leads the team and the SLC with nine touchdowns (seven rushing, two receiving).
- The Wildcats snuck out a win against McNeese (17-10), scoring a touchdown with 13 seconds left in the game.
