SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team secured a 3-1 victory over Niagara on Saturday afternoon in the final contest of the 2019 Cardinal Classic at the McDermott Convocation Center.

NOTABLES
- Bethany Clapp led the Cardinals with 16 kills, chipping in a .424 attack percentage in the process.
- Cameron Taylor had another double-digit performance, this time with 14 kills and a .375 attack percentage.
- Five Cardinals – Clapp (.424), Camden Gray (.533), Julia Monday (.462), Taylor (.375) and Allison Waits (.333) – each had above a .300 attack percentage.
- As a team, UIW hit .326 in the final match of the 2019 Cardinal Classic.
- Presley Blaylock registered 33 assists, while Alyssa Carlin added 14 digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
SETS 1 and 2 (23-25 and 25-14) | After falling in a close battle in set one, the Cardinals rebounded to take set two, evening the match at 1-1. In set two, UIW took an early lead at 5-2 and did not trail again. Although Niagara evened the score at 6-6, the Cardinals ran away with the set, ultimately capturing a 25-14 win. Â

SET 3 (25-21) | Set three was another tight set that featured five ties and only one lead change. The lead change happened in the Cardinals' favor when they took a 15-14 advantage and didn't trail again on their way to a 25-21 victory in the set.

Set 4 (25-19) | Trailing 6-5 in set four, the Cardinals used a five-point run to take the lead. They never trailed again en route to a 25-19 set win and a 3-1 match victory.
