SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team dropped a five-set decision to Delaware on Friday night in its second match of the 2019 Cardinal Classic at the McDermott Convocation Center.

NOTABLES
- Two Cardinals registered double-digit kills. Bethany Clapp led the way with 17 kills, while Cameron Taylor had 11 kills and a .360 attack percentage.
- Pilar Gonzaba had a season-best 37 assists and four digs.
- Alyssa Carlin tallied a team-best 15 digs.
- As a team, UIW had 14 blocks.

HOW IT HAPPENED
SETS 1 AND 2 (17-25 and 22-25) | With the score knotted at 5-5, Delaware scored three consecutive points to take the lead en route to a 25-17 first-set victory. In set two, the Cardinals took an early lead and maintained it for much of the set, but UD secured a 25-22 win.

SET 3 (25-23) | The Cardinals found their footing in set three, taking an early lead and continuing their offensive power through to a 25-23 set victory.

SET 4 (26-24) | Set four was a tightly contested set that saw 16 ties and nine lead changes. With the set tied at 24-24, Delaware called a timeout. Coming out of the break, however, the Cardinals took advantage of two UD errors to capture the 26-24 set win.

SET 5 (14-16) | In set five, the Cardinals battled hard in a set that had seven more ties and five lead changes. With the score even at 14-14, the Blue Hens capitalized on back-to-back errors by the Cardinals to clinch the 16-14 set win and the five-set match victory.
