FRISCO, Texas -- The University of the Incarnate Word men's and women's track and field teams both earned 2019 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team honors, announced the association. In addition to the team honors, seven Cardinals --

Deja Keys,
Tiffani Mays,
Erekha Sebastion,
Clinton Cole,
Garett Cortez and
Rodney Littlejohn -- earned individual USTFCCCA All-Academic accolades.

To qualify as an individual, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.25 cumulative GPA and have qualified for regionals or nationals. Teams must have a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA to qualify.

The women's team finished the 2019 Spring semester with a 3.45 cumulative GPA. This ranked tied for 66th in the nation, second in Texas, and first in the Southland Conference. This is the second consecutive year the women's track and field program has had the best GPA in the conference, and the third time in four years. Â

The men recorded a 3.27 cumulative GPA at the end of the 2019 Spring semester, ranking 37th nationally, second in Texas, and first in the SLC. This marks the third consecutive year the men's track and field team has had the top GPA in the league.
