SUGARLAND, Texas -- The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team fell, 2-1, to McNeese in its first game of the Southland Conference on Wednesday night at Constellation Field.
NOTABLES
- Eddy Gonzalez led the Cardinals with a 2-for-4 outing and a run.
- Luke Taggart suffered the loss, striking out seven batters in 5.0 innings pitched.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cardinals opened scoring in the bottom of the second. E. Gonzalez scored on a
Shea Gutierrez sacrifice fly to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead.
After a pair of scoreless innings, the Cowboys plated a run to tie things up in the top of the fifth inning before adding another run in the sixth inning to take a 2-1 lead.
The Cardinals battled but fell to McNeese, 2-1.
