ABILENE, Texas -- The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team fell, 9-3, to Abilene Christian on Sunday afternoon in the final game of the series.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cardinals took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Arnold scored on a
Taylor Smith sacrifice fly.
After a few scoreless innings, the Wildcats stole the lead, scattering eight runs across the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to jump out to an 8-1 advantage.
Ryan Gonzalez scored on a fielder's choice in the top of the seventh to help UIW cut ACU's lead to 8-2, and Arnold scored on a balk in the top of the eighth to further chip away the Wildcats' lead to 8-3. The Wildcats scored another run in the bottom of the frame, guiding ACU to a 9-3 win.
