HOW IT HAPPENED:
SET 1 (25-22) | Lamar jumped out to an early 4-1 lead, but UIW went on a four-point streak to take a 5-4 advantage. It was a battle that saw five lead changes and 10 ties throughout the set. After the score evened at 20-20, Clapp took over and had three kills. Throughout the set, Carissa McGarity kept UIW in the lead as she finished the set with five kills. Julia Monday also contributed five kills.
SET 2 (25-20) | Set two was another close set that saw both teams fighting and clawing to stay close as there were eight tie scores in the set. UIW fell behind again early, 9-6, but kept fighting as Monday led the charge with four kills. A clean defensive set led by Alyssa Carlin played a big part in capturing the win.
SET 3 (20-25) | In this set, Lamar was able to pull out their lone set victory as the score once again finished at 25-20. UIW had an opportunity to extend a 15-14 lead, but LU picked up its sense of urgency and was able to claim the third set to force a fourth.
SET 4 (25-20) | Clapp started the fourth set off with a string of four straight points after Lamar won the first point. She started with a kill, then had three consecutive aces to give UIW a 4-1 lead. This set wasn't as volatile as the other three as UIW was in the driver's seat for the whole set.
