SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team fell in three sets to Sam Houston State on Saturday morning at the McDermott Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SETS 1 (25-19) AND 2 (25-22) | Sam Houston took the lead from the first point and didn't let it go, winning the first set. The Cardinals came out strong in the second, tallying the first point. The Bearkats were quick to respond, however, putting together a 4-0 run to move in front. The Cardinals didn't go down without a fight, tying the score a total of six times in the set, but were unable to climb all the way back and even the match.
SET 3 (27-25) | The Bearkats struck first and remained in the lead for the majority of the set. The Cardinals battled from 21-15 deficit to go on a 10-1 run to take the lead. Sam Houston tied the set three times after that and ultimately scored the last two points to win the match.
