No. 25 Cardinals host [RV/RV] Lamar

SAN ANTONIO – The No. 25 ranked University of the Incarnate Word football team kicks off a three-game home stand with the contest against [RV/RV] Lamar on Saturday at 4 p.m. (CT) at Benson Stadium. This game is UIW's Community Appreciation Game presented by Cappy's Restaurants.
 
All residents and employees of Alamo Heights, Terrell Hills and Olmos Park receive free admission, courtesy of Cappy's Restaurants.
 
The first 1,000 fans in attendance receive a free UIW Athletics license plate frame and a free koozie with the lyrics to the UIW fight song that will be unveiled at halftime.
 
Terrell Hills Police Chief Bill Foley will participate in the pregame coin toss.
 
Cancer survivors, joined by representatives of SLEW Cancer Wellness Center, will be recognized on field during the game.

THE CARDINALS
  • UIW heads into the game riding a three-game win streak against Southland Conference opponents.
  • The Cardinals are ranked No. 25 in the AFCA FCS Coaches' Top 25 Poll. UIW is also receiving votes in the STATS FCS Top 25 poll. The last time UIW was ranked was last year (Nov. 18) heading into the FCS playoff game against Montana State.
  • UIW is 2-0 at home this season and remains undefeated at home under Head Coach Eric Morris.
  • The Cardinals have forced at least one turnover in 18 consecutive games dating back to the 2017 season.
  • UIW forced six turnovers against [23/25] Southeastern Louisiana on Oct. 12, which ranks second in program history for single game takeaways.
  • The Cardinals lead the conference in defensive touchdowns (2), which ranks sixth in the nation.
  • UIW's 13 interceptions this season rank first in the nation; the Cardinals also have a nation-best 1.83 turnover margin. The 19 turnovers gained sits at second in the nation.
  • Kam Williams averages 6.4 receptions per game (No. 18) and 99.0 yards per game (No. 13).
  • Keyondrick Philio's six rushing touchdowns rank 24th nationally.
 
SCOUTING LAMAR
  • Lamar heads into the week off a two-game winning streak after defeating Sam Houston (20-17) in the third overtime on Oct. 12. The Cardinals took the lead, then used an interception to seal the deal.
  • The Cardinals have the best pass defense in the league, only allowing 1,466 yards (118-220-6) in seven games.
  • The Cardinals' defense is led by Michael Lawson, who has 43 tackles (26 solo, 17 ast) while leading the Southland in interceptions with four in six games.
  • Jordan Hoy has 1,913 total offensive yards (T5 SLC), rushing for 323 and receiving for 1,590, while scoring seven TDs (T8 SLC).
