SAN ANTONIO -- The University of the Incarnate Word men's tennis team opened the 2019 home season in stellar fashion with a 7-0 trouncing of Our Lady of the Lake on Friday afternoon at the Mabry Tennis Center.
 
DOUBLES
The Cardinals secured the doubles point in convincing fashion to open the match. On court one, the duo of Paco Bendana and Caleb Dyer defeated Ross Marzetti and Gabriel Braga, 6-1, while Sebastian Mortier and Dennis Boisseau topped Abraham Cantu and Alejandro Omaro, 6-2, on court two. Zachary Vander Heiden and Luke Godwin also bested Vinicius Silva and Diego Salinas, 6-2, on court three.
 
SINGLES
In singles matches, all six UIW student-athletes won in straight sets. Dyer (court five) and Nedim Ahmic (court six) achieved the rare double bagel, blanking their opponents with 6-0, 6-0 victories.
 
On court one, Mortier topped Marzetti, 6-1, 6-3. Boisseau secured a 6-0, 6-1 victory against Braga on court two, while Bandana defeated Cantu 6-1, 6-0 on court three. Valentinsson bested Omaro 6-1, 6-2 on court four.
