HOUSTON -- The University of the Incarnate Word men's tennis team opens the spring season with back-to-back duals against Rice and Prairie View A&M on Sunday at the George R. Brown Tennis Center in Houston. The dual against Rice begins at 10 a.m. (CT), with Prairie View A&M following at 2 p.m.

THE CARDINALS
UIW is coming off a 2018 season that saw a 5-0 conference record and the program's first Southland Conference Championship. The Cardinals competed in six fall tournaments to prepare for the spring season and look to continue their momentum from last season.
 
RICE
The Owls are coming off a 9-17 record in 2018. They participated in seven tournaments during the fall season and kick off the spring against UIW.
 
PVAMU
The Panthers were 4-26 in 2018 but held a 4-2 mark in Southwestern Athletic Conference action. PVAMU faced SMU in a doubleheader on Thursday, falling in both matches (7-0 in match one, 6-1 in match two).
 
UP NEXT
The Cardinals open the home season on Friday, taking on Our Lady of the Lake at the Mabry Tennis Center. First serve is slated for 2 p.m.
