Beaumont, Texas -- The University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team concludes its first conference road trip of the season at Lamar on Tuesday. First serve is set for 7 p.m. (CT). This is the third contest in the Cardinals' stretch of five matches in nine days. They are 1-1 thus far.

- UIW secured its first SLC victory of the season, on the road, at Southeastern Louisiana (3-1) on Sept. 22.
- Sophomore outside hitter Julia Monday started the match with eight kills on eight attempts (1.000 hitting).
- She finished with a career-best 18 kills, passing her previous best (16) set against Sam Houston State (11/11/17).
- Freshman outside hitter Bethany Clapp recorded her first collegiate double-double (10 kills and 13 digs).
- Those 13 digs set a new season high for her; her previous season high was six, set against UT-Arlington (9/7).
- Freshman Kendall Kilchrist set a new season high with 39 assists, surpassing her previous best (37) set in her last match vs. EWU (9/15).
- Kilchrist now has 76 assists in her last two matches, 197 for the season.
- Freshman middle blocker Carissa McGarity matched her season high with 10 kills. She also added a team-best four blocks and a pair of digs in the win.
- She has posted four or more blocks in five of her last seven matches.
- Junior outside hitter Cameron Taylor set a new career-high with seven kills, including the match winner.
- Her .636 hitting percentage was the best on the team.
- Sophomore middle blocker Imani Stewart earned her first career start. She posted a career-best six kills on .417 hitting while adding in one block.
- This was the second time this season UIW has had five student-athletes get five or more kills in a single match -- UIW also did this vs EWU (9/15).
- Sophomore libero Madelynn Miller led the team with 19 digs.
- Freshman defensive specialist Chloe Patton eclipsed double-digit digs for the fourth time this season. She finished with 11 while adding in an ace and two assists, including the match winner.
SET 'EM UP
- UIW has employed a tandem of freshman setters this season, with great success.
- Pilar Gonzaba leads the team with 200 assists in 31 sets (6.45 per set).
- Kilchrist has put up 197 assists in 25 sets (7.88 per set).
- The 7.88 average from Kilchrist is sixth best in the conference and second best among SLC freshman.
- Gonzaba's average sits third best among freshmen in the conference and eighth best overall.
- The Cardinals -- led by the duo of Kilchrist and Gonzaba -- have 89 assists in conference play. This is the third highest total in the conference.
KNOCK 'EM DOWN
- Clapp has established herself as a premier offensive weapon on the outside. She leads the team with 119 kills, including 58 in her last four matches.
- This season, Clapp has hit 3.05 kills per set. This is the seventh best average in the conference and the second best among freshman.
- She posted an .824 hitting percentage in UIW's victory over Alcorn State (9/15), marking the best attacking percentage for a single match in the conference (minimum of 12 kills).
- Clapp has now posted at least eight kills in nine of her last 10 matches.
- McGarity has enjoyed a recent surge in offensive production.
- She has recorded 25 kills in her last four matches, including a pair of 10-kill matches (vs. EWU and @SLU).
- She is excelling defensively as well. McGarity leads the team with 38 blocks, averaging 1.04 blocks per set in her last seven matches.
MONTH LONG CASE OF THE MONDAYS
- Monday has enjoyed a considerable jolt in results through seven September appearances.
- She's posted 80 kills on .310 hitting in her seven matches this month -- averaging 3.33 kills per set played.
- Her improvements have spanned far beyond offense. She has recorded 30 digs (88.2 percent of her season total -- 34) and 12 blocks (85.7 percent of her season total -- 14) this month.
- She has registered double-digit kills four times in this stretch, including a career-high 18 against SLU -- she also had 11 @ UTRGV, 13 vs EWU and 13 @ NSU. She has now recorded double-digit kills 10 times throughout her career as a Cardinal.
SCOUTING LAMAR
- Lamar enters play with a 3-10 (0-2 SLC) record. The Cardinals are riding a four-match losing streak heading into Tuesday.
- Lamar is led offensively by Tomar Thomas, who has 140 kills.
- The Cardinals are 3-1 at home, with the lone loss coming at the hands of Howard (3-1 on 8/31).
- UIW leads the all-time series with Lamar, 5-2, including each of the last five matches dating back to the 2015 season.
UP NEXT
UIW opens its home Southland Conference schedule on Thursday, Sept. 27, against Sam Houston State (7 p.m.). The Cardinals then welcome Abilene Christian on Sept. 29 (2 p.m.). These two matches are the final in UIW's stretch of five matches in nine days.
