RUSTON, Louisiana-- The University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team lost 0-2 Friday night against Louisiana Tech at the Lady Techster Soccer Complex.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cardinals opened the period strong, protecting the net with a strong defensive line. LA Tech took the lead in the 23
rd minute in a 1-on-1 breakaway shot inside the box, making the score 0-1. Senior goalkeeper
Sydney Huntsinger left the half with four saves. Freshman goalkeeper
Cailey Croson came in the game for Huntsinger and provided solid defense for the Cardinals to finish off the half with two saves.
The second half began with a Lady Techster breaking through the UIW line, allowing a goal to make the score 0-2.
Sam Batley was a powerful force in the Cardinal offense, leading the charge with three shots on goal.
Isabella Beletic and
Ari Cantu also racked up shots on goal in the final minutes of the match, ending regulation time 0-2 with a Lady Techster win.

UP NEXT
The Cardinals return home to host Houston in their home opener on Aug. 26. The match against Houston is scheduled for 5 pm at Benson Stadium.
